Born in 1947, an executive director since 2002, Mr. Thompson is an international banker of long standing, having held increasingly senior positions in the United States, Singapore and the Middle East. Mr. Thompson was born and educated in the United States, where he received an MBA from Wharton School of Finance. He assumed his current position at Butterfield Bank in January 2002. He is a Council Member of the Bermuda Stock Exchange and a Board Member of both the Bermuda Underwater Exploratory Institute and Bermuda High School. Mr. Thompson is a Board Member and Chair of the Development Committee of both the National Dance Foundation and Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. He is a Board Member and Vice Chairman of the Bermuda Hospitals Charity Trust and Chairman of the Bermuda Banker’s Association.
